Por su parte, el portavoz de IU en el Congreso, Gaspar Llamazares, indicó que no se cree el compromiso anunciado por el candidato socialista a los comicios de noviembre, Alfredo Pérez Rubalcaba, de cerrar las centrales nucleares en España si gana las elecciones porque conoce que éste tiene «una convicción personal en favor de la energía nuclear».
En rueda de prensa tras la reunión de la Junta de Portavoces en el Congreso, Llamazares explicó que Rubalcaba siempre fue el «hueso duro de roer» para hablar con el PSOE en materia de energía nuclear.
«Esta conversión sólo la entiendo en clave de precampaña, porque hay una convicción personal en favor de la energía nuclear, que además nos lo dijo y demostró y bloqueó toda iniciativa que tenía que ver con el calendario de cierre de las centrales nucleares. Estamos ante una conversión y yo no creo en las conversiones. No soy de esos«, recalcó.
La portavoz de ICV en el Congreso, Nuria Buenaventura, destacó que «por fin» el candidato del PSOE se comprometió a un cierre de las instalaciones atómicas en España si gana las elecciones del 20 de noviembre; una iniciativa que, según puntualizó, ICV lleva reclamando desde hace «muchísimos años».
Así, relató que las recientes «desgracias» que están sucediendo en materia nuclear, como la catástrofe en marzo en Fukushima (Japón), y el accidente en el almacén de residuos francés, le van dando la razón a su grupo parlamentario, que siempre pidió el cese de actividad de este tipo de instalaciones. «La energía nuclear no es segura, ni barata y por tanto por eso nos hemos reclamado la necesidad del cierre de las nucleares», agregó.
«Pedimos al ministro de Industria que actúe en consecuencia con el máximo dirigente de su partido y no renueve su permiso de explotación a Ascó (que concluye el 1 de octubre)», concluyó.
