El presidente de REE, Luis Atienza, anunció, durante su participación en las VII Jornadas «Las redes eléctricas inteligentes: hacia un nuevo modelo energético«, que sobre las 2.00 horas de la madrugada del domingo se batió el «record histórico» de contribución eólica a la demanda de la red eléctrica, al llegar al 59,6%, en un momento en el que el conjunto de las instalaciones eléctricas generaban alrededor de 20.900 megavatios (MW).
La eólica produjo en esa jornada 139 gigavatios hora (GWh) y se convirtió en la segunda principal fuente de generación, por detrás de la nuclear, que cerró el día con 160 GWh, y de las centrales de carbón, con 137 GWh.
En total, la generación neta del sistema se situó el domingo en 717 GWh, mientras que la producción acumulada desde comienzos de año fue de 225.440 GWh, un 2,5% menos que en el mismo periodo de 2010, según consta en el balance eléctrico diario de REE.
Hoy, en España, donde hay más producción de eólica por la noche que por el día, Atienza indicó que «con apenas 21.000 MW de potencia eólica, la producción eólica en algunos momentos es de 15.000 MW y en otros es de 150 MW».
En cuanto a la cobertura de la demanda, dijo, esta oscila desde el 1% en algunos momentos, al record que se logró el pasado domingo. Ello refleja, añadió el presidente de REE, un «gran reto para un sistema eléctrico que tiene muy pocas herramientas para compensar esa variabilidad».
El último récord de potencia instantánea de eólica se alcanzó el 9 de noviembre de 2010 a las 3.35 horas de la madrugada, con 14.962 MW y que supuso una contribución del 54%, al igual que el producción horaria de energía, de 14.752 MWh, y el de energía eólica diaria, de 315 GWh.
En su intervención, Atienza señaló que los cambios en el sistema eléctrico español a nivel tecnológico van «madurando» pero que, como es norma en este campo, se vive «un proceso de cambios relativamente lentos».
Apuntó que se va avanzando hacia un modelo más eficiente con la implantanción de más inteligencia a las redes tanto en la distribución, la generación, los operadores y el consumo.
En este sentido, indicó que también se trata de un «procedo de cambio cultural» porque se modifica el «paradigma del sistema eléctrico» y de ahí que, junto con la seguridad que requiere este proceso, se avance lentamente en su desarrollo tecnológico.
