Quizá la mayor sorpresa estriba en el hecho de que el propio Fernández Segura haya acabado optando y aceptando este puesto, cuyos cometidos fundamentales son de pura gestión interna, económica, logística y de intendencia del propio organismo. Fernández Segura, un histórico con un largo historial a sus espaldas de puestos políticos y responsabilidades en la Administración, en realidad se incorpora a la nómina del organismo en un puesto que en una orden religiosa sería el equivalente al de un Ecónomo.

Además, por otra parte, esta aceptación es tanto o más peculiar, con la amenaza que gravita sobre todo el organismo de su desintegración fulminante tras las elecciones del 20 de noviembre, hecho que a todas luces podría hacerse en términos casi de harakiri personal, unido al propio suicidio institucional del organismo. En todo caso, esto puede denotar las dificultades de encontrar un acomodo profesional confortable de cara al fin de ciclo político en un número importante de cargos salientes de la actual Administración.

Lo segundo y más importante que denota también este nombramiento subrepticio es que la CNE ha quedado sometida a la disciplina del Partido Socialista, sobre todo del aparato ferracista más tradicional responsable de las operaciones de ocupación del Estado y sus aledaños, a través de la patente de corso en la oficina de colocaciones. Parece ser que en este final, Antonio Fernández Segura habría obtenido por todo ello un premio a los servicios prestados en aquel momento.

En todo caso, no parece que desde este cargo pueda tener excesiva relevancia desde el punto de vista regulatorio, aunque sí es esclarecedor de los procesos políticos asociados a la cobertura del puesto. A primera vista, esta posición no tiene por qué interferir en el funcionamiento ya anómalo de la actividad regulatoria de este órgano regulador, a no ser que condicione la disposición de los teléfonos móviles del personal de la CNE o la cesta de Navidad a la avenencia en posiciones ideológicas. En todo caso, no parece que eso sea para lo que está llamado.
