El certificado Breeam de evaluación y certificación en sostenibilidad de edificios se abre paso en España
Así lo explicó en Barcelona Ana Luisa Cabrita, directora de Breeam en España (Breeam Es), en el marco de la reunión del Consejo Asesor de esta entidad, que cuenta con representantes de empresas como Acciona, Agbar, Ferrovial o FCC, además de algunos colegios de arquitectos o la Xunta de Galicia.
La directora del sello contó que un edificio certificado por Breeam reduce el impacto medioambiental de la edificación y promueve la eficiencia energética, con ahorro de consumo de entre un 30 y un 70%, y la consiguiente disminución de emisiones de CO2.
Los estándares de Breeam, entidad de origen británico, permiten además la reducción del gasto de agua hasta un 40%, y llega a disminuir los gastos de explotación hasta un 30%.
Ana Luis Cabrita destacó también que una edificación certificada por Breeam mejora la satisfacción y bienestar de los usuarios de los edificios, incrementa su funcionalidad y vida útil, y puede aumentar el valor de los inmuebles en un 7,5%.
Breeam cuenta con cuatro tipologías de certificación: Urbanismo, destinada a mejorar la sostenibilidad de los proyectos urbanísticos; Vivienda, aplicable a bloques de viviendas o viviendas unifamiliares; Comercial, dirigida a oficinas, centros comerciales, locales e industria ligera; y En Uso, para mejorar la gestión y el impacto ambiental de edificios ya construidos.
El proceso de certificación de la sostenibilidad de un edificio con el método Breeam comienza por su registro a través de un asesor acreditado para realizar el proceso de consultoría y auditoría, de los que en España la entidad cuenta con 70 en proceso de formación.
Ana Luisa Cabrita explicó que son estos asesores, que son independientes de Breeam, quienes orientan y apoyan a los interesados en obtener el sello sobre lo que deben hacer para alcanzar determinados niveles en sostenibilidad «y lo ponen a nuestra verificación para que nosotros otorguemos o no el certificado».
Ana Luisa Cabrita estuvo acompañada por Felip Neri, directivo de Agbar y miembro del consejo asesor de Breeam Es, que anunció que la Torre Agbar iniciará el proceso de certificación sostenible con este sello en la tipología «En Uso» porque el grupo «quiere tener una adecuada gestión ambiental también en sus edificios e instalaciones».
