La asociación pidió a los partidos políticos de cara a las elecciones del 20 de noviembre «una mayor preocupación por la elevada dependencia energética que tiene España» y un nuevo programa que permita avanzar hacia el objetivo de un sistema de generación libre de emisiones de dióxido de carbono (CO2).
Según la fundación, «llama la atención la indefinición en política energética presente en el discurso de la mayor parte de los partidos políticos», de los que dijo que, en general, intentan apoyar un mix con todas las tecnologías, «es decir, apoyar al gas, al carbón, a las renovables y a la nuclear sin concretar el papel de cada una de ellas, mientras se relega el ahorro y la eficiencia y no se habla del cambio climático o de CO2».
La Fundación Renovables pidió el apoyo a todas las iniciativas que apuesten por el cambio de modelo, «ya que la energía es cara, escasa, contaminante y especulativa», y aseguró que, mientras los combustibles serán cada vez más caros y agotables, el incremento de la demanda de renovables las hará competitivas «en muy pocos años».
Por ello, la asociación energética instó a los partidos políticos, «a los que ya reclamó hace dos meses que se hablara de energía ante la cita electoral», que «rompan su silencio» sobre su futuro, pues consideró que las exigencias del «sector convencional» para instaurar una moratoria al desarrollo de las renovables «suponen mantener la más alta dependencia energética de los países de la Unión Europea, mayores emisiones de CO2 y una menor intensidad energética».
