Manuel Pizarro irá en la lista del Partido Popular
La primera reunión del Comité Electoral Nacional, que preside Javier Arenas, y que se celebrará el próximo jueves está previsto que se designen los números uno de las candidaturas del PP para las elecciones generales del 9 de marzo.
Después de que el nombre de Pizarro sonara en los últimos meses para formar parte de las listas del Partido Popular, Rajoy confirmó que propondrá al Comité Electoral su inclusión en la candidatura por Madrid, que él mismo encabeza.
Manuel Pizarro, ex presidente de Endesa, ha aceptado el ofrecimiento del candidato del Partido Popular a la Presidencia del Gobierno en las próximas elecciones, Mariano Rajoy, de formar parte de las listas del PP de Madrid. Se trata del primer nombre anunciado por Rajoy para las listas electorales del PP, de las que el próximo jueves se conocerán los números uno.
Fuentes consultadas indican que estaría designado a ocupar la Vicepresidencia económica en caso de que el líder popular gane los comicios.

Nacido en 1951 en Teruel, Manuel Pizarro fue presidente de Endesa desde mayo de 2002 hasta octubre de 2007.
Licenciado en Derecho por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid, consiguió con 29 años una plaza como Abogado del Estado y posteriormente Agente de Cambio y Bolsa (1987) y Vicepresidente de la Bolsa de Madrid (finales de 1995).
Miembro del Consejo de Administración de Ibercaja desde mayo de 1994, fue nombrado presidente de la entidad en Zaragoza, Aragón, y la Rioja en noviembre de 1995. En 1998 fue elegido presidente de la Confederación Española de Cajas de Ahorro (CECA), cargo en el que permaneció hasta 2002. Durante ese periodo, fue el artífice de la reforma de las cajas introducida en la Ley Financiera, que permite la emisión de cuotas participativas y limita al 50% los representantes de organismos públicos en sus órganos de gobierno.
Abandonó la dirección de la CECA antes de la aprobación por las Cortes de la nueva normativa, a pesar de que el 20 de febrero de 2002 había sido reelegido para otro mandato. Pizarro fue nombrado presidente en mayo de ese año de la eléctrica Endesa, empresa de la que era consejero desde 1996 y vicepresidente desde 1998, en sustitución de Rodolfo Martín Villa.
Manuel Pizarro cedió las responsabilidades en Endesa a José Manuel Entrecanales el pasado 18 de octubre, después de que se materializara con éxito la Oferta Pública de Adquisición de acciones (OPA) formulada por Enel y Acciona sobre la eléctrica, que llevaba más de dos años envuelta en el más largo y complejo proceso de OPAs de la historia empresarial española, incluidos varios procesos judiciales, desde que Gas Natural lanzara la primera oferta en septiembre de 2005.
Es Presidente de Honor de Endesa y Vicepresidente de Bolsas y Mercados Españoles, fue nombrado el pasado mes de diciembre consejero independiente de Telefónica.
Es Académico de Número de la Real Academia de Jurisprudencia y Legislación, Académico de Número de la Real Academia de Ciencias Económicas y Financieras, Académico de Número de la Academia Aragonesa de Jurisprudencia y Legislación y Director de la Real Sociedad Económica Aragonesa de Amigos del País.
