Sebastián hizo estas declaraciones a los periodistas tras acompañar al príncipe de Asturias y al presidente de la Junta, Juan Vicente Herrera, en la inauguración de la fábrica de Renault que producirá en Valladolid el Twizy, el primer coche eléctrico fabricado en España.
«Si quieres comprar un coche eléctrico y vas a un concesionario, no lo vas a encontrar», aseveró el ministro.
No obstante, Sebastián confió en que «la oferta llegará pronto», y «cada vez habrá más gente» interesada en adquirir un coche eléctrico.
La red de recarga «no es el problema», sino «la escasez de oferta» por parte de los fabricantes «y que haya un garantía de que van a continuar las ayudas a la compra», indicó el titular de Industria.
Al respecto, destacó que ya existen alrededor de 500 puntos de recarga disponibles en España, por lo que ahora son «los ayuntamientos» los que deben de «hacer un esfuerzo para poner más».
El ministro garantizó las ayudas a la compra de este tipo de vehículos menos contaminantes, ya que serán necesarias inicialmente, al ser más caros que los convencionales hasta que su precio se reduzca «en el futuro» cuando se generalicen en el mercado.
En este sentido, recordó que este año Industria destinó cerca de 75 millones de euros a la movilidad sostenible, pero «lamentablemente la oferta no ha llegado a tiempo para atender esa demanda potencial».
«Lo que no hay es oferta porque está claro que la demanda existe y hay gente que quiere acceder a un vehículo eléctrico«, reiteró.
Por este motivo, Sebastián dijo que el Gobierno que salga de las elecciones del próximo 20 de noviembre tiene que «ser consciente» de la importancia del vehículo eléctrico, para «seguirlo apoyando».
«El nuevo Gobierno debe seguir peleando por el futuro del automóvil y del empleo» en el sector, agregó.
Por su parte, el director de Comunicación de Renault, Jesús Presa, subrayó que la marca ya tiene cerca de 3.000 reservas por internet, alrededor del 10% de ellas en España, para adquirir un Twizy.
